A standard full groom includes a bath, blow-dry, brush-out, de-shed where appropriate, nail trim, paw-pad trim, ear cleaning and coat styling. Smooth-coat full grooms exclude clipping and styling. Every appointment is adapted to coat condition and the dog's comfort.

Puppies can often begin gentle introductions at around 12–16 weeks, once they have followed their vet's vaccination or health guidance. Starting early and visiting regularly helps grooming feel familiar and positive. The Puppy Introduction Groom is available for puppies up to six months old and is quoted individually.

What happens if my dog is matted?

Tight matting pulls on the skin and attempting to brush it out can be painful. If de-matting would cause unnecessary distress, clipping beneath the mats may be the safest and kindest option. Amber will discuss coat condition and the welfare-led plan with you before proceeding.

Can you groom nervous or anxious dogs?

Yes. Appointments use calm handling, reassurance and breaks, with the pace adapted to the individual dog. No outcome can be guaranteed, and a groom may be changed or stopped if continuing would compromise welfare or safety.

Yes. Amber is a Rottweiler owner and is confident with larger and powerful breeds. Hydraulic equipment and non-slip surfaces support safer handling. Please share your dog's weight, mobility and previous grooming behaviour when enquiring.

How can I prevent matting?

Brush regularly with tools suited to your dog's coat, checking down to the skin and paying attention behind the ears, under collars, in armpits and around the legs and tail. Combine home care with a regular professional schedule. Amber can demonstrate suitable tools and techniques.

Does a short-haired dog need grooming?

Yes. Short coats still shed, collect dirt and produce natural oils, while nails and ears still need care. Professional bathing and loose-coat removal support cleanliness, comfort and skin monitoring even when no haircut is needed.

How long will the appointment take?

Many full grooms take around two to two-and-a-half hours, but appointments can range from roughly one-and-a-half to three hours depending on size, coat, behaviour and service. Amber will contact you when your dog is ready.

Will you shave a double-coated dog?

A healthy double coat is normally de-shed rather than clipped or shaved because it helps with insulation and temperature regulation. Shaving may affect regrowth and should generally be reserved for veterinary or welfare reasons.

Is ultrasonic teeth cleaning a replacement for the vet?

No. It is a preventative surface oral-hygiene service for suitable dogs, not veterinary dentistry. Dogs with pain, loose teeth, inflamed or bleeding gums, severe recession, advanced tartar or suspected disease need veterinary assessment.
