How Does emmi-pet Work?

A specially designed brush head and toothpaste are used together. The brush is held gently against the tooth surface without scrubbing, allowing ultrasound and the toothpaste to help loosen surface deposits and disrupt plaque. Your dog has their own individual brush head, which is included with the initial appointment.

The initial consultation usually takes around 30–40 minutes and is quoted individually, as are subsequent cleaning appointments. The best frequency depends on your dog's mouth, tolerance and home-care routine and will be discussed after assessment.

Who May Benefit?

The service may suit dogs who have mild plaque or surface staining, dogs who do not tolerate brushing at home, nervous dogs who prefer silent equipment, and owners who want to support a regular preventative oral-hygiene routine.

When Veterinary Care Comes First

Ultrasonic cleaning at a grooming salon is not a veterinary dental examination or treatment and does not replace professional veterinary care. It is not appropriate for dogs with:

• loose or damaged teeth
• bleeding or severely inflamed gums
• obvious mouth pain
• significant gum recession
• advanced tartar
• suspected periodontal disease

If Amber sees a reason for concern, the service will not go ahead and you will be advised to contact your vet. Groomers cannot diagnose dental disease, remove teeth, clean beneath the gumline or provide treatment that requires anaesthetic.

A Calm Introduction

Your dog will be allowed to sniff the equipment and become familiar with the toothpaste before cleaning begins. The brush is held gently in place, without forceful scrubbing, and breaks are offered as needed. Some dogs require more than one appointment to become comfortable, and treatment will always be limited by what can be completed safely and kindly.
